Christian CD Releases: April 2008

The month of April brings us some highly anticipated releases from Christian rock veterans P.O.D. and Hawk Nelson. I personally look forward to each new album those 2 bands release so I am very excited about those. Across the pond, rockers Delirious are releasing their new album in the US on April 1st, then a couple weeks later in UK on April 14th. They are a little softer than I typically listen to but if you are into that sort of thing from what i’ve heard on their MySpace page, they have a tight clean sound. Rounding out this month’s Christian CD releases, we have Search The City and Run Kid Run who are both quickly making a presence in the Christian music scene so be sure to check them out.

Unbreakable by Fireflight

Although, I used to write video game reviews for a site I owned a while back, I am writing my first album review ever. I am hoping some of that experience will help me with these album reviews I plan to blog about on a regular basis. Being a Christian for only a year, I have had the privilege of listening to quite a few Christian bands. Up until the last few days, unfortunately I had not heard of FireFlight. I was astonished to find that they would become one of my new favorites. With that, please enjoy a review of their album Unbreakable which just released March 3, 2008.

FireFlight - Unbreakable Shortly after purchasing Unbreakable on iTunes, I started checking out more information about FireFlight I had noticed a neat little tidbit on their MySpace page. The title track Unbreakable just happens to be featured on NBC’s “Bionic Woman”. I have briefly heard about the show but have never seen an episode or even a preview on TV. This song will speak to each and every one of us who have faced adversity whether by our peers or the people of the world who might want to drag us down with them. It explains that in these times, if you turn to God and turn over control to him and trust him that you will confirm your faith and will help you keep from breaking apart. Musically, Unbreakable is a great testament to their musicianship. Catchy guitar riffs, massive rock beats and bass-lines compliment the singers powerful but clean vocal style. Often, title tracks fall short of doing an album justice, but in the case of Unbreakable, it really sets the stage for an amazing album overall and I foresee several singles hitting the charts. In support of FireFlight’s song Unbreakable. Head over to www.iamunbreakable.com and tell them about how this song has impacted you. You’ll also find their NEW VIDEO for the song (also available at YouTube.com), as well as cool wallpapers, banners, etc. Click the banner below to visit when ready.

Other notable tracks which are some of my favorites on the album are: Stand Up - which seems like a great song to get a crowd pumped at a concert; Brand New Day - a catchy ballad; Wrapped in Your Arms - another ballad showcasing how the singer’s vocals can be soft yet powerful at the same time.

Overall, the album is very uplifting and isn’t an album you just buy for a few songs, I have listened to the entire album at least 3 times now since buying it earlier today. It is a must have if you like Christian pop / rock with an edge. Find out more about FireFlight and how to purchase Unbreakable by visiting the links below.

Christian CD Releases : March 2008

This month brings us several highly anticipated Christian rock and pop CD releases such as Fireflight’s Unbreakable and Starfield’s I Will Go. A few of these bands are new to me such as Fireflight who I immediately took a liking to. They have a nice blend of rock beats that complement some in your face guitar distortion and tight lows. Their title track Unbreakable is the standout for me on this CD. Shifting gears a little, punk rockers MxPx have released a 2 CD Ultimate Collection of their best hits over the years. Be sure to check out each of the bands below and if you know of any others that I have missed, please let me know and I will add it. Enjoy!
